Next-generation SpHb technology offers improved motion tolerance and faster display of SpHb results (in just 30 seconds). In addition, the field performance in the lower haemoglobin range was improved. With the rainbow® DCI-mini sensor, patients of all ages, from infants to adults, can be controlled with a reusable sensor.

The next generation of SpHb, which is activated when Rad-67 and the DCI mini-sensor are used together, significantly advances the pioneering role in non-invasive, portable haemoglobin spot-check. Rad-67’s ability to perform portable random sampling of oxygen saturation and SpHb in addition to other non-invasive rainbow® measurements makes it a useful single instrument solution in a variety of care settings and mobile environments, e.g., when examining patients during blood donation trips, in emergency rooms, and in medical practices. In addition to a six-hour rechargeable battery, Rad-67 features a high-resolution HD colour display with intuitive touch screen navigation that automatically adjusts brightness to optimise visibility in a wide range of settings, including outdoors. The slim sensor connection is designed to provide tactile feedback when connected correctly. Multiple parameters are displayed at the same time, allowing rapid assessment of the patient. Rad-67 provides a convenient way to review historical data directly on the device with unique patient identifiers to improve the organisation of records and workflows. With Bluetooth®, Rad-67 can wirelessly connect to portable printers. Rad-67 also includes an integrated wireless connection via Wi-Fi. In conjunction with Masimo Iris Gateway™ or Patient SafetyNet™, data from Rad-67 can be sent directly to the electronical medical record (EMR). Automation of data transfer with EMR integration can help to reduce the possibility of human error in the manual transfer of data.

Dr. Aryeh Shander, Chief of Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, stated that «the ability to detect haemoglobin non-invasively is one of the greatest advances. As soon as a low haemoglobin level is reported, the confirmation with a conventional laboratory test will further explore the possible causes.»

Joe Kiani, Founder and CEO of Masimo, said: «We are proud to announce  Rad-67 with next generation SpHb technology. Next Generation SpHb represents a significant improvement on the non-invasive measurement invented a decade ago – a measurement that we will continue to improve».
